La UnitedHealth Chronic Disease Initiative y la National Heart Lung Blood Institute (NHLBI)han establecido 11 centros colaboradores de excelencia para permitir el desarrollo de la investigación y la formación y las infraestructuras para fomentar la investigación sobre nuevos y mejorados métodos, programas y medidas para prevenir o controlar las enfermedades crónicas cardiovasculares y pulmonares en los países en desarrollo.
