chronic disease, comorbidity, epidemiology, medical education, mental health disorders, multimorbidity - Multiple morbidity combinations impact on medical expenditures among older adults Publicado el 25/04/2011 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
This study aims to explore the medical needs of patients who have different combinations of multiple chronic diseases in order to improve care strategy for chronic patients. This study was based on a national probability proportional to size (PPS) sampling to older adults over 50 years old. We collaborated the files of the 2000-2001 health insurance claims and selected 8 types of common chronic diseases among seniors, for the discussion of multiple combinations of chronic ...
care management, comorbidity, costs, mortality, multimorbidity, prevalence - Development of a new predictive model for polypathological patients. The PROFUND index Publicado el 14/03/2011 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
There is a concern about the accuracy of the available prognostic indexes when applying them to the emergent population of polypathological patients (PP).
frailty, mortality, multimorbidity, polypathology, prognostic index - Prevalence of Chronic Diseases and Multimorbidity Among the Elderly Population in Sweden Publicado el 14/01/2011 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
They explored the role of age, gender, and socioeconomic status in the occurrence of chronic diseases and multimorbidity in 1099 elderly participants in the Kungsholmen Project. Cardiovascular and mental diseases were the most common chronic disorders. Of the participants, 55% had multimorbidity.
chronic disease, elderly population, multimorbidity, prevalence, sweden - Co- and multimorbidity patterns in primary care based on episodes of care: results from the German CONTENT project Publicado el 16/11/2010 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
Due to technological progress and improvements in medical care and health policy the average age of patients in primary care is continuously growing. In equal measure, an increasing proportion of mostly elderly primary care patients presents with multiple coexisting medical conditions. To properly assess the current situation of co- and multimorbidity, valid scientific data based on an appropriate data structure are indispensable. CONTENT (CONTinuous morbidity registration Epidemiologic NeTwork) is an ambitious project in Germany to ...
multimorbidity, primary care - Health and treatment priorities in patients with multimorbidity: report on a workshop from the European General Practice Network meeting 'Research on multimorbidity in general practice'. Publicado el 02/11/2010 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
Setting health and treatment priorities is necessary when caring for multiple and complex patient issues. This is already done in the doctor-patient consultation-yet implicitly rather than explicitly. The aim of this European General Practice Network workshop was to advance a consultation approach that deals with shared priority setting.
aged, attitude to health, family practice, multimorbidity, patient-centred care - Multimorbidity and quality of life in primary care: a systematic review Publicado el 28/10/2010 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
Many patients with several concurrent medical conditions (multimorbidity) are seen in the primary care setting. A thorough understanding of outcomes associated with multimorbidity would benefit primary care workers of all disciplines. The purpose of this systematic review was to clarify the relationship between the presence of multimorbidity and the quality of life (QOL) or health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of patients seen, or likely to be seen, in the primary care setting.
multimorbidity, primary care, quality of life, systematic review - Multimorbidity is common to family practice: is it commonly researched? Publicado el 28/10/2010 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
Family physicians often have to care for patients with several concurrent chronic conditions (multimorbidity or comorbidity). Consequently, they need to inform themselves by reading indexed publications on multimorbidity. This study aimed to assess how well the concept of multimorbidity was covered in the medical literature. Objectives were first, to quantify the literature on multimorbidity (or comorbidity) and to compare the number of publications on it with the number of publications on three common chronic conditions ...
multimorbidity, prevalence - Comparative assessment of three different indices of multimorbidity for studies on health-related quality of life Publicado el 26/10/2010 por Diana Gosálvez Prados
-
Measures of multimorbidity are often applied to source data, populations or outcomes outside the scope of their original developmental work. As the development of a multimorbidity measure is influenced by the population and outcome used, these influences should be taken into account when selecting a multimorbidity index. The aim of this study was to compare the strength of the association of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) with three multimorbidity indices: the Cumulative Illness Rating Scale ...
